Grow Your Authority as A Blogger

Being helpful
Personally, I get minimum 10 emails or direct messages everyday asking for blogging tips.
I try to answer each of the queries by offering simple solutions. Most of the people who message me are people who want to start a blog or new bloggers. I answer and share relevant links or YouTube videos.
I also love to answer people’s questions in Facebook groups. It builds trust and people start to follow you. Facebook groups are the best place to grow your authority as a blogger. I also answer Quora questions and thus sending traffic to my blog.
I have noticed that people from Quora always visit the links you share. But in case of people following you there, you need to give thorough and meaningful answers to questions.
When you are helpful, it helps to build the trust among your readers. It also gives you some amazing friends.
Writing topic your readers want/demand
One thing which I have followed is that I have always listened to my readers. Writing according to your readers’ need also build trust and thus enhancing your authority as a blogger.
Regularly check your blog analytics and research which posts are read most. You can use those posts as inspiration for your next batch of posts. When you create content for a niche, it helps you to grow your authority as a blogger.
You can also be member of relevant Facebook groups and other forums dedicated to your niche. Look at the discussions and measure the trending topics. Try to write series on such trending topics regularly.
Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is probably one of the most useful tactics to grow your expertise and authority as a blogger. Writing on a blog by other established blogger or online magazines put your content in front of a larger audience. It is your ticket to use other people’s influence to reach a better platform and reach more people than you can ever imagine.
So, how can you start guest blogging and increase your readership and following tenfold?
The first step in guest blogging starts with knowing where to blog. Every major blogger offers to guest blog themselves, but your writing must meet their expectations and niche. They also have the guest blogging guidelines somewhere on their websites.
Do your research and shortlist the blogs you want to write. While sorting the blogs, keep it in mind that this guest blogging must help both the parties in terms of reach and promotion. Once you are done with this post, now is the time to go for the second and most crucial step, pitching.
The term pitching includes the work of asking the blogger about the guest blogging opportunity and proposing the idea of your article. But before that, make sure that you are thoroughly aware of what the particular blog is all about.
Grow a relationship with the blogger by commenting and sharing staff regularly. It helps when the person is aware of you and knows that you are a true follower.
While crafting your pitch, do not just send an email asking if you can guest post. Every blog has some guidelines. Follow them to the tee.
Keep the pitch short and casual. Use the same voice you have for the blog. Do not brag about yourself and your skills. Rather write about the values you are offering through your writings.
Wait for at least 2 weeks to get a reply. If you don’t hear them within 2-3 weeks, inquire politely. Most of the bloggers respond. And if they do not, never lose your heart. Apply again to them and other platforms.
Try approaching your blogger buddies first. Ask them if you can write for their blogs. It really helps in the long run.
On the other hand, you can also invite people to write on your blog. Set guidelines according to your blog’s need and share on social media.
Respond to Comments
Always, always respond to your comments. People are investing time to read and comment on your blog. Honor it by responding to the comments.
If you want to build loyalty, brand your blog, and make yourself more of an authority, replying comments is crucial to it.
Get published
Getting published has its own charm. Nothing can match the happiness of seeing your name on a book’s cover or on a magazine.
Lots of platforms are coming with self-publishing opportunities for anyone who wants to write a book. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing is such a platform which allows you to publish a book without any cost.
Also blogging networks come with blog-to-book programs and publish anthologies of stories and poems.
Getting published helps you to establish yourself as a writer. It also beneficial to make money and earn fame.
Writing for print magazines and newspapers also has its added benefits. It is one of the best ways to get your writing noticed and grow your blog in front of a local, offline audience. It is the perfect way to create a niche for your name and bring traffic to your blog.
I am taking my blog to the next level with Blogchatter’s #MyFriendAlexa campaign
These are very helpful points for a blogger like me. I have both a hindi and an english blog. And my biggest weakness is trying to delay comment replies. But you are right replying is actually honoring the reader. I will surely correct myself.
