- What to do after you choose a blogging niche?
How to choose blogging niches that make money
To be honest, a niche is a relative term. It can depict a topic as universal as food or a simple idea like talking about essential oil.
In this era of specialisation and specifications, you must choose a niche as specific as you can.
For example, you want to blog on food, always ask what type of food you want to write about. As I said, food is a universal topic, and it covers so, so many things under it.
You can write about vegetarian food, non-vegetarian food, vegan food, non-dairy, gluten-free, Indian cuisine, western cuisines, African cuisines, cuisines from your region, homemade meals, restaurant foods, or growing your food, how to cook as beginners and everything related to food.
Do you see the point? You can’t be a simple food blogger. You have to be a specific-topic-of food blogger.
I have written in details about how to choose blogging niches that make money in my previous blog post. I also suggest reading it to understand these concepts in detail.
In short, you need to choose a topic that you are passionate about, have willingness and time to read/research, and a topic that has good competition and monetisation scope.
But just choosing a niche with all the mentioned traits will make it profitable?
No.
Blogging is hard work. Let me be honest with you and tell you that the initial days of blogging is frustrating, without any support to keep you motivated.
Just starting a blog with a topic and writing is not enough. (More on it in the next section)
You need a content strategy, social media strategy and lots of patience to keep you floating.
That is why choosing a niche that interests you is important. Professional blogging involves 35-40 weeks of work every week. So, plan everything neatly so that you do not get lost or demotivated.
What to do after you choose blogging niches that makes money?
There are several steps involved in this stage. Let’s start with starting a blog.
Start a self-hosted blog+ domain: Starting with self-hosting and a professional domain is the first step of professional blogging.
Getting a domain+ hosting doesn’t need to be expensive. You can get it at $25 ($5 for domain and the rest for a year of self-hosting at a whopping 45% discount) on Namecheap.

Now, install WordPress and create your admin username and password.
(Power tip: If you are not familiar with the technical side, contact the live chat and ask them to do it for yourself)
Choose a clean blogging theme that can be customised, SEO friendly and is lightning-fast.
Create an avatar for your target readers. Write down who they are, what is their age, occupation, and their location. It will help you to write in a friendly way.
Surf social media and interact with the people who fall under your targeted readers. Communicate and learn what are their pain points. It will help you to choose affiliate programs later.
Do your keyword research. Research and make a list of topics people are searching on Google/YouTube/Pinterest.
(Read my posts on basic keyword research and tools for keyword research.)
Once you shortlist topics that interest you and you have the knowledge, start writing their outlines first.
Write your first 5 blog posts before you launch. Make sure you use Grammarly and copyedit the posts before you publish them.
Use Canva to create a blog and social media graphics. They will come handy for promoting your blog.
Before you launch, make a blog post schedule like once a week or twice a week and plan your content accordingly.
Launch whenever you are ready. Make sure you promote the blog posts left and right.
Now, let’s come to the list of profitable blogging niches
